Week Forty-Four: In Which An Asteroid Becomes A Meteor
You know, I am old enough to recall the original Asteroids video game. I was pretty damn good at it, too. I could also clear lots of screens of Space Invaders and was a Space Avenger in Gorf. And as for Galaxians. These days, video games are just not the same.
And it looks as though headunits (and in-car tech in general) are on the cusp of some real step-changes as well, with the recent introduction of iCloud music from Apple and the new Parrot Asteroid head unit. The Android-app-using single DIN Has been out a little while but as I wanted to get a real go on it, it’s taken since Summer to get at one for Talk Audio. But Parrot are keen to be involved with us lot and one is winging its way to me as I write. Which in Geological terms means that instead of winging its way through the heavens, it is going to crash land onto our world, thus changing definition from Asteroid to Meteorite! I will have a good play and even install it in the Daddybus, since the GPS functions will be crucial to the device.
I had an idea. A massive car audio bass event called The Big BadaBoom. It would have ESPL, dB Drag, Bass Race and Propper Droppers contest formats all in one place. It’d have a way to make the SPL contest a spectator sport ideally with a stage area they drove onto and yours truly on the mic. It’d take some massive planning but could conceivably be at a show like the Modified Nationals. I could swag a truly serious slice of stuff to win for the King Of Boom, or should that be UK Bass King 2012? Do you think people would enter the lot?
And finally, are there any wannabe bassheads out there? Because Project Big Black is up for sale. Tragic loss to the circuit and a blow to GZ fans. PM thejoose on the forum boards system if you have ten grand to say you ARE the boss of bass!
