Week Forty-One Filming is Such Fun!
Increasingly, we watch video to get a slice of what the heck is going on. These days, the bandwidth that meant I once waited twenty minutes to see a fuzzy clip of a curvy star I fancied, going down a slide, would take seconds to buffer up. Even the nature of the web is changing as right now, the latest versions of web tech do not need a mobile and a full site but rather recognise your device and adjust themselves to look right on your PiPad or slick smartypants phone.
So what started as a little extra, Talk Audio TV, is now crucial to operations. And my chums at Celsus are really good at engaging with that. In fact it was Chris Bennett and I going on about JL Audio Bass Boxes and Why They Are Cool, that changed my status on YouTube from a channel user to a ‘˜Partner’. I even get little payments from Google in Ireland. Nothing like the few who are making a big old living at it but as I carved it out all on my own, I feel proud to have 2,137,987 views and 1,811 subscribers.. roughly. It’s a channel called Presenterbloke if you are looking on the Tube.
And I have made many films with Chris and also, when he has been here and I have been there, with Mr. Steve Turrisi, the inspirational JL Audio training factotum. That Steve and Chris mutually admire each other is really sweet and is in fact quite clear in one clip I made yesterday. As Steve was coming in from Europe on the way back to Miami and Chris thought it would be good to get a clip made about the new TW1 woofer. So I was to meet at Heathrow with a woofer, having collected one at a dealer’s, notably Car Audio & Security in Hayes.
But they had sold them all. As had pretty much everybody. In fact, John Kleis in Reading had one, so mad but true, we all wafted up the M4 and made our clip in the lobby lounge of the Holiday Inn. It was hilarious, with plan A being a hotel at terminal 4 and plan E ending up in Reading.
But we got our clip. And I popped in on Car Audio & Security and nagged Rino Rosato, a very old friend in the industry and natural on camera, to help. I got another few there, about Rockford and even Boss Audio, who do a mad lot of woofer for £90!
Lastly I have a CASTING CALL! If you are free to film on Sunday, in the London area, then I have a documentary maker looking for you if your car is modified and has tunes. He is working for C4. Here’s his words: ‘So I’m making a documentary for Dazed & C4 on the Bassline scene and a big part of that was modified cars. I’m looking to get together a small group of car owners – ideally be looking for Corsas, Saxos. Peugeot’s, an Impreza – that would be up meeting up in their cars for a couple of hours so we can shoot a short scene. If you can help out on this at all then that would be amazing – if you know anyone that has a car and loves bassline then even better!’
Give me a shout and I will send him the numbers of those who want to and fit.
