Week Forty-Three In Which I Have Unearthed More Treasures
I did refer last week to the backlog of reviews and can reveal that I have got at it with a vengeance. I have just published the Clarion CZ702E single DIN head unit and it is an amazing piece, with three sets of RCA outs that can be configured to run a fully active three-way front end via special switching for the outputs and a sexy set of crossovers and EQ software on board. All for £180 via Car Audio Direct. (suggested price is £210) To which end, the review has been presented with all the salient stuff at the top, including its Best Buy flag and the scores, with the deeper detail below the fold and further down for those wanting to delve into all the bits and bobs. Do let me know if this works better for you.
The test rig also used the new Soundstream Reference 4.400 four channel amplifier which lived up to its name and is utterly delicious to listen to. I played the Clarion SRE1722S speakers and the Hertz Milles that I reviewed last week on it at the same time. Likewise the DLS 250w monoblock RM10 amplifier, which was used to drive a Ground Zero Nuclear six inch woofer, well six and a half inches. That review when it comes will be complete with a confession of a stupid thing I did but you’ll have to wait to find that out! Lastly, I also tried the digital radio tuner made to go with the Clarion CZ702E headunit just tested which was a bit fiddly to get to grips with but of course supplied lovely digital tunes of a wider variety than my FM world receives up on my hillside. That and KONTROL to write up yet so I had better go get on&;
