Week One: Wherein Talk Audio Is Still Singing Slade!
As the great poet and philosopher Noddy Holder of Seventies pop combo Slade once wrote, ‘Look to the future now, it’s only just begun..’ And 2012 stretches before us, an as yet unknown path of joys and woes. The January Blues hit me only for one morning and that due to the usual backlog of stuff I would like to have written to publish right now. Several reviews and a couple of car features at least. Work will get me through it.
All because I have just had a genuine holiday break, which is unlike me, for my whole life is wrapped around the stuff I do and I am one lucky bleeder, in that none of it feels like stuff I don’t want to do like a ‘˜real’ job. OK, keeping proper accounts and making sure the advertising is well run and all the housekeepy stuff like YouTube comment-responses can be time consuming but it all means I can eventually get on with what I like to do best, which is testing stuff to help you make those ever-yet-more crucial buying decisions about mobile electronics and audio on the move. What little we have to spend on toys has to be based on the most informed possible decisions. And that’s something I care about.
I have a shiny new Blackberry that came with my recent upgrade, complete with a couple of months of free 3G dongle-doings as an extra (obviously, Vodafone want me to carry on the contract for the data dongle and SIM after the free trial) and will plug it into the butt of the Parrot Asteroid head unit I will be road and bench testing shortly, which helps make it a more thorough pull through.
I do still have the £400 in-ear headphones and the excellent Scosche MotorMouthII Bluetooth device to write up for right now and as for the rest of 2012? Well, I’m not one for lofty resolutions that I cannot keep, but I will strive to bring you the freshest and sexiest mobile in-car technology and to let you know which are the best products. The sweetest sounding, the best value for money, be it power or accuracy you love best and which are true Weapons-Grade for the bass psychopaths.
For no matter how far your interest in car audio and mobile technology takes you, all the way to crazed obsession if you like, we are there with you all the way. Don’t be lonely if your urges seem strange to friends and family alike, who don’t get why you want to close your eyes and kiss Adele right in her kissy chops, or feel the need to shake the ground as you pass by. Talk Audio means you are always just a click away from a like minded soul and an article about their toys.
My only decent act as New Year resolution was to phone and apologise to someone I was vile to.which made me feel better. Just shameful that it took my old editor of years and years standing to make me feel rotten enough about it to do so. And my old Ed never said a word in critical rebuke I could just tell he was a bit disappointed in me. The conversation was a healing one and I now know that the dude DOES have both depth and the capacity to please, as he was a total diamond about it.
