Week Ten: In Which Huets Have An ICE Night
Retail Price is an odd thing. You may not know, as it is kind of a trade issue, that there is no such thing, legally any more, as a Recommended Retail Price.
These days, it has to have the magic word ‘Suggested’ somewhere in the form of words. Now, a magazine was traditionally the last place where you had to use the Retail price and it still is. Readers need to know the ‘˜retail’ price in reviews – so you can see what sort of deal you are getting, be it high street or online.
If you are experienced enough in car dismantling and rebuilding to buy online, then cool but if you need help, you know that paying for expertise is customary and that some margin (as against a sliver) on the product is part of paying for the service. That’s also why shops charge so much more per hour for fitting ‘customers’ own equipment’. It’s better value if pro-fitting, to buy in the fitter’s shop.
All of which is just a long winded excuse for publishing an incorrect price on the Pioneers for a day or two
Anyway, two sets of Pioneer speakers now tested, with two JL Audio NewD„¢ XD amps and a bloody insane JL Audio bass box
This week I have hooked up the same loom and Pioneer DEH-P88RSII headunit to a set of Alpine SPR-69 ovals and a set of Alpine SPR-60C components, being driven from an Infinity Kappa Four amplifier and with a mighty Clarion APX1301E monoblock that can dump 400 watts RMS into a two Ohm load. I just have to choose what woofer to go on it, from the choice I have here of two Alpines.
Meanwhile, if you are a Suthen’ type, then come and see the fun at Huets Ice Night open evening on Wednesday 9th. Mad deals AND the UK debut of the new Alpine Electronics Nissan Infiniti FX45 demo car. It looks really cool. I’m the Master of Ceremonieswell I’m on the PA as a sort of meat-based ultra-local broadcast station for the night. See you there!
