Week Ten : Wherein I’ve Been Dahn the Ace Café
There is a spot alongside London’s A406 North Circular road that has been famous for ever. It was a café, then a petrol station, then a car front and got ever bigger. Blasted in the war, it was rebuilt. It shut in 1968 but reopened again in 1993 and nowadays, although it is tucked away in a side road that is all about light industrial units and leather sofa shops going bust one after the other on the same site, the Ace Café remains at the heart of UK car and especially motorbike culture. And the clever thing is that they have organised evenings for each type of enthusiast. So you have German bike nights, modified car evenings, Trike days, superbike nights, street culture events with dance crews showing up and well, all sorts of things.
So it was entirely fitting that I went along one night last week to meet up with some friends to get their opinions on some bass tunes. We’re going to add ‘˜Music’ to the Reviews listings and bring a review of Bass Mekanik’s Lowd Slowd album to you, complete with a video clip, this week.
Also, that Parrot Asteroid turns out to be a beast. I’m still playing with it but should be able to get it written up soon, as I am nearly at the breakthrough 3G dongle moment
Next week is the trade show Mobile Electronics News Expo. I’ll be reporting for the magazine and will bring any new stuffs’ details here to tell you about them, as well.
There was a loud ‘˜POK!’ noise on my screen the other day at high speed and I looked sharply at the screen to see if there was any damage. Thankfully not at the time but MeJulie asked if I knew my screen was cracked when she last got in to go to her office. And yes, there’s a nasty crack starting to traverse the screen and it’s four inches long and goes to the edge, I cannot see Autoglass repairing that. Oh well.it’d be the fourth damn piece of glass I’d have to replace in the car and the third screen. I must be hexed.
