Week Thirteen Mixed Feelings: Joy & Tragedy
It’s been a rollercoaster of a weekend, with the happy following of folks via Facebook as they wended their way to various shows. We had Jay Golinsky take his oh-so-posh show queen pug to Heaven on Wheels in Belgium only to be bitterly disappointed at how the show has declined. One fellow long-range show goer ended up describing it as ‘standing around in a car park.’ Then of course, it has been the EMMA Eurofinals and we sent a team to Salzburg to compete in the biggest sound off car audio contest in the whole year. They awoke this morning to have to drive home after a snowfall, so we shall worry until their safe return.
By the wonders of roaming telephony and at cost to UK EMMA boss, Andy, I called him to ask about how we did. Ackerley-san said, ‘It was absolutely fantastic. A great result, great team effort and we are all very, very happy. We scored two third places and had three cars in the top ten of the whole show, which is amazing. One car, Christian Martin’s, took a ninth place and yet there were just nine points between first and ninth! It was stupidly close.’ Full results as soon as the boss gets to his hotel tonight and hits up the internet.
And the Fast Show, a corker of a day out at Santa Pod, saw my favourite group of promo type lasses out in force. Dubbed ‘˜Aimz Curvy Angels’ I had asked if they would like some coverage and so might get in touch to get some direction as to photographs I wanted in order to be able to run a story. They are all curvy babes and so my kind of sexy, yet I wanted a report rather than just pictures and that might have been too much to ask! Anyway, be sure I will be bringing you more about them, this season. I am so pro the curvy fight back and these gals are CAR gals!
And lastly and truly sadly, in a shorter column this week, I also learned that Alex Butwell, (260 Facebook followers versus my 98, by the way) the lad in my picture above, from Trax 2012, has died. He ran the Cadbury chocolate themed heavy bass install in the picture. In a sudden and horrible RTA, which just reminds us how dangerous the whole car thing is, as we needs must drive to get to the places we play. And never to lose sight of the things that matter.

One friend said, ‘R.I.P mate. Seriously gonna miss this guy. He always gave me advice, always made me laugh and was the most genuine guy I knew. Meets around my area won’t be the same without him. My thoughts are with his girlfriend, family, and friends. Seriously, can’t believe it’.
