Week Thirty-Nine There’s Classic Brands On Line

Meet the eBay machinations of Car Audio Zee or Caraudioz, which is the online iteration of PPA or ProPlus Audio. Having bought the name and trading from the long-time-served original creators, the thrusting young businessman and car audio connoisseur decided to get on to Talk Audio with the ProPlus classics as well as all sorts of new, up market things he had secured the UK rights to. Meetings were had, product came home with me afterwards to be reviewed and a campaign to tell you guys about them was instigated. Yet for a while, we didn’t have their banners Turns out that our lovely lot were seen as the posh end of car audio fandom and that PPA wanted to have a strong online supply site that worked, first. They now have a Talk Audio magazine header banner up and this is their offering, via the bay of e Link And for me the coolest thing is that it means that several iconic American car audio brands are actually still distributed properly in the UK. To whit, the mighty Soundstream, legendary Hifonics, equally famous MB Quart and even Latino-loved Precision Power Inc or PPI. These are in addition to their also carrying a selection from Autotek and Crunch and Power Acoustik. Their phone number is prominent, for the keen, and is 020 8127 1599. The shop also has some really odd cute stuff from ends of lines of other brands like Massive Audio and even AudioBahn.
One sort I do want to check out is their own OE line called, er, OE, as in it is designed as far as possible to look like a car interior design engineer, rather than a flashy car audio boy designed it. I will get a look see as soon as possible.
I had a fun escapade upon the radio on Saturday morning as ever was, being asked to come in and ‘˜go through the papers’ on BBC 3CR, my local Beeb station, on their breakfast show. The guest gets to choose what stories they want to talk about. It was great fun but a bit like being ushered into the queue for a really big high fast zip line with people who are on their twentieth go. Yes, they love it and making radio seemed like a joy to the presenter, while producer Danielle was like a girl with a really FUN toy. A radio station with phone-in facility. She was doing everything, including talking to callers off air. They were both casual as cucumbers but there was that squeeze on the adrenal glands as you hear the presenter introduce you and then say, ‘So what do you think, Adam?’ Wheeeeeeeeee..
I had got up ugly early and yet I had merely six minutes to REALLY fling through a massive pile of ALL the papers and find stuff to talk about before I was suddenly live on air. It was great fun but I must also offer deep thanks to young Ben on Fast Bikes over at Future, who was bloody brilliant at delivering me state of the art knowledge to do with the bike test and the industry as homework the day before. Cheers, ‘˜Jammin!
I felt a bit mean but needed the day off, so hadn’t taken James Patterson of Bloomz’s kind invitation up to go play at the Players Show on Sunday but it was clearly a good day out. The sun shone and lots of bass was dropped. Bloomz remain the single most staunch team of sound off aficionados in the south and our Jim is a top bloke in more ways than craftsmanship. Hilariously, he seems to getting drawn to the dark side and the true audiophile wants to play with weapons grade bass, or SPL, next year!. Seen here, Zoë Vincent, the single cutest hair trick girl of the show, (Jodie is going to slaughter me, when she reads this) who gets told off by her dad on Facebook with the totally cool admonition of ‘Bad Bubbles!’, followed by a which is a Dadfrown, I guess, when he saw this shot. (I nicked it happy to credit it here if I get told!)
The show season is slowing down now, I am off to go write up a piece about it and why you should get on board and try sound off competitions.
Enjoy the start of Autumn and may you not slip on the mellow fruitfulness
