Week Thirty-Six In Which I Suffer End Of Season Comedown!
Last week I finished my weekly column (I hate the term ‘Blog’, sounds like something smelly blocking sanitary ware) with the line, ‘It’s all still an exciting world to live in for the audio nutter and car audio still rules!’ And was clearly feeling bullish. But as a direct result of all the excitement and Waxstock and the mayhem of my PTS at the hands of PC Dredd and all the shows all coming to an end, I was actually shocked at how hard the End of Season Comedown had hit me. I think I even felt it as I signed off sat the end of the last sound off of the season inside the actual scrutineering arch at Silverstone. At the very nucleus of the racetrack where the Racing Drivers’ club lives (and where Road Angel happen to be based) and it was the last sign off of 2012.
But the local scene stays active all year and I know the next gig for me will be the open day at Car Audio Security, so I shall look forward to that. Sorry for posting this so late. It took a trip out to have a pizza with the family to make me feel better! But the restorative power of Romana crust pepperoni and Anchovy pizza with lots of Parmesan is wonderful!
I have a car or two to write up and of course, a feature on the EMMA finals – sponsored generously again for the League trophies by Celsus Ice under the Dynamat and Phoenix Gold banners. One of the cars is theirs, too. And I will have more keyboard bandwidth to be able to get more reviewing done. I really want to know what the GZ six inch wooferette sounds like! It’s in the box and awaits a sweet 250 watt bass amplifier I have in the loft from new outfit ProPlus Audio. I also have a HiFonics Colossus up there! All shall be revealed in time.
Meanwhile, here’s an image from what was one of the best Trax shows I have ever attended. It was massive. So big, I don’t really even know quite HOW big it was. I shall have to find out, as my young protégé Ed Dalby grew up with one of the crucial organising team and knows stuff. He also blagged a whole-season VIP pass to the entirety of the Future organisation’s shows, from Japfest onwards!
If like me, you feel there aughta be a Talk Audio event after all, then let me know, as I have an idea involving a whole roasted pig and enormous amounts of popcorn, included in a car show event thingy pricejust gather together, eat, drink and play car systems. It could even be a place where we connect more systems together than EVER done in the UK. We’ll have the FOUR lads lead it as they are gods at that schtick and Jon MC Lovetruncheon on the Pioneer decks!
‘Pig And Popcorn BoomFest!’ Whaddaya reckon?
