Week Thirty-Three In Which We RUIN Fake Woofers

I got a phone call and a FaceBook message. This chap had bought two JL Audio W3 subwoofers from E-Bay. The caller was Stuart Smart, whom I have known forever. It was his customer, a Jaguar XK8 driver, who had been tucked up. For they were not JL, they were actually counterfeit! Yes, just like Morel need to include a tiny polarised sheet to read a hologram with their product to prove it isn’t an example of bad reverse-engineering and a monkey-copy, JL Audio have been counterfeited in the Far East.
Thing is, if these things were a copy, they might just be of some use. But they are the worst sort of rip off, pretending to be high quality and priced as a ‘˜bargain’ of £260 for two. Way too good to be true. Apparently, the seller has a North London postcode but things take some time to arrive as they are coming from Malaysia.
Upon complaint for late delivery, then a 24 hour delay before the buyer can call ‘FAKE!’, our man was told he could keep the products as well as getting a full refund, feeling that would exonerate him.
This is not so. We shall pursue him to the ends of the Earth and E-Bay remains the thieves’ open door and the actual progenitor, that which engenders and creates this shit, by providing ‘˜market overt’ (Google that) for bandits. I hate them with a passion, them and bloody PayPal. I just don’t accept the arrows-in-your-hat frontier town shit about the Internet. ISPs should be FORCED to supply records and what if THEY were held responsible for bloody fraud carried out via their services?
That might make a bloody difference. /rant
Anyway, as well as geekery, we all took a hand in the destruction of the stupid fake shite. It was hilarious and I also made some SQ clips, already on Presenterbloke on YouTube. I hope you like them
Drive carefully, enjoy your tunes, don’t get nicked.
