Week Thirty-Two Mini Was Massive

I paid the taxman and lived! And am fresh back from the Kent County Showground, which has, for almost a whole week, been the site of International Mini Meet 2014, or the IMM. The Southern Mini Owners Club, or SMOC, had been getting ready for this show for three whole years. It will not be back in the UK for five years and when it is, it will be with another club to organise it. And my word did they do an amazing job.
I have been chums with the Hircocks, Darren and Helen, for a while now and have a few videos of them. If I put a linky in an editorial, YouTube slaps a video window in the copy and it breaks the front page editorial column system. But if you crack open the Presenterbloke Channel on YouTube, or search ‘Darren and Helen stick tape on their 160dB Mini install!’ you will see them making their Mini better sealed, so as to garner the extra tenth of a decibel they needed to take it to 160dB! Looking it up just now, I find with a shock that the video was made four years ago according to the ‘˜Tube.
And although I was reminded that I was there to make some TV at a mini event some aeons ago, this was my first ever proper ‘˜Mini’ do. I was there to compere and commentate and had to work between two arenas and two stages as well as the Sound Off area. I was so shattered I could hardly get going today.
But recover is under way and I shall be at the tiller once more. Hope you like the picture of Russ Swift, who I have not worked with for ten years but is still doing the business.
In a Mini.
