Week Twelve Wherein I have ‘˜Reviewed’ a £100 Grand Focal System!
Mike ‘˜Guru’ Organ once said that my life was ‘˜random’! It seemed it a bit, recently, as I had to get a big slice of copy from a fishing show last Sunday dealt with on the Monday before EXPO on the Tuesday and Wednesday, before going somewhere terribly posh Eton to ‘˜review a mind bendingly superb set of Focal loudspeakers for Home Cinema Choice on the Thursday. Bearing in mind they were over sixty grand for five speakers and two subs, it was a ‘so I should ruddy well think’ job but ooohgosh they were good! And now, I have to write all of it up
The EXPO trade show was absolutely bloody brilliant for Talk Audio. I worked the Exhibition halls to report for the Mobile Electronics News magazine and also worked on a few companies that have been notable for their lack of presence on Talk Audio in the past and even stubbed my toe on a couple of super cool new diagonally-on types (as in not audio but blingtech and styling companies) who would be a good fit for us. How about the notebook that has a flipper’”framed-touchscreen to become a tablet-esque touchscreen device? So far so seenbut which then becomes an Android device when in tablet form? Or even precious metal and bespoke bling (‘How many carats sir?’) to fashion a Bluetooth pendant?
I have also been itching to get more involved in the detector/indicator products to alert you to camera sites, schools and blackspots. I have found the latter actually useful at the rate of progress I like to use. How ever much attention you pay, it’s always good to have a system tell you that other people have royally screwed up, right there, so pay heed. I run a Road Angel GPS trap indicator, a Trafficmaster SmartNav and a Klingon Cloaking Device that can render me invisible to the human visible light spectrum but sadly, not Infra Red, nor Laser wavelengths. So the number plate can still be read, even when cloaked. Worf’s cousin promised me it’d bloody work, too.
Ok, enough fantasy Electronic Countermeasures, I wanna new Snooper!
I learned at Expo, that a chap from Fusion was using one of the videos I had made at the previous year’s expo, all over the world at training sessions, which was nice. I took lots of pictures yet none look like they will be being used by M.E.N. so I may show you some stuff from the show but I did also do a collection of videos as well for Talk Audio, so they will be up in due course. It was Earthquake and DLS/Hybrid Audio from Matrix. Incidentally, James from Bloomz was telling me that they are going to do a sound off car with entry level, Hybrid Audio Technologies gear so that’s one to watch.
I’d better go bash they keys to write up the Expo, closely followed by the awesome Focals with their Beryllium tweeters. I have a set of them in the loft, they were £450 each back when that was a lot of money just for one tweeter.
