Week Twenty-Four YOU’RE NOT FIRED!

I got a sweet snippet in this morning from one of my favourite nutters-in-the-trade. One James Patterson of Bloomz. Not the ‘voorsht’ salami, the high end, fan-attracting car audio establishment that was also behind the system designs of the amazing Pioneer tie-up with Subaru! I will let his words (with my punctuation) explain the tale:
‘My name is James Patterson, based in North Weald – and it just occurred to me that my little good news story might be news worthy. Since 2004 I have run a small business here, working on cars, doing basics from parking sensors and phone kits right through to full sound systems. All the way to competition standard.
In spring 2011 I decided that I was tired of working alone and really had to bite the bullet and hire someone if things were to progress. However, the firm could not get close to affording the wages of a fully trained and experienced member of staff and so I went out on a limb and became one of, if not the first in our small industry to employ an apprentice. Now, two years on, we are about to have our second review and Mitch is now out working alone in a van somewhere three days a week, while I’m out somewhere else. He is also at Havering College one day a week for a further year yet but is now a vital member of what is now a two man band!’
Although I think James is wrong about one thing. As far as I know, he is the ONLY car audio business to have picked up on the apprentice scheme. Good on him. Top installation house! Check their site at link or call them up, on 01992 800 750.
The show season is in full swing and I have some lovely swag to give away and a couple of car features in the bag. A run down on Andy Blanch’s astonishingly good European double-champion sound off sound quality car is next, with more reviews in the pipeline. Meanwhile, I was actually shocked at how soon and how easily as editor, I was taking full advantage of the sheer speed and awesomeness of Talk Audio this fine Monday morning. From the teeny-weeny picture-in-picture our front page YouTube window now sports if you hover over it, to the blistering usefulness of searching the forum boards for my own editorial needs, the site has now got a jet engine strapped to it! Well done guys!
Still got to wrestle with some hardware, so I’ll go get on then&;
