Week Twenty-Six – It’s Hot In The Sticks!

The DD review’s supporting video is already up on the YouTube Presenterbloke channel and will be the next front page smallie video as well. I managed in the event to get a halfway decent excursion video filmed. The tiny screen on the camera is OK but you really do lose a whole load of the resolution that comes out on the final view on the PC screen.
It has been roasty hot and I’ve been scaring the world in general in short trousers – for which I apologise but cannot alter! Amazingly, this week also sees the true beginning of Talk Audio magazine’s FOURTH year! And all because it is riding on the shoulders of the forum which is in it’s tenth year and for internet stuff, that makes us sage and venerable and aged!
I am still behind on the ice reviews and need to get at the toys I have been talking about in the last couple of weeks. I still need to get onto Chord cables and tell them the lengths I need of their posh speaker wire for the test rig as I recently became convinced that my cheapo stuff was a limiting factor in purity of reviewing. You need reference grade stuff to be able to ‘listen’ to just the bit you are altering, like say the speakers or the source or the amp. I have ‘known good’ amps, heads and speakers to do my reviewing.
Come to think of it., I have never listed said items, so.. here goes.
Head units: Alpine F#1 Status 1st Gen CD deck, Pioneer P88RSII CD deck and Sony MEX-DV1000 DVD/CD/SACD deck. And an iPod.
Amps: JBL GTO 24001 for bass and Genesis Stereo 100; speakers Morel Elate components and B&W LM1 Leisure monitors and one Odyssey battery and laboratory power supply from Daiwa to run it all. That and lots of funny-terminated wires and special boxes made by Acoustic Wood. I’ll let you know when I upgrade it.
I’ll go get on, then.
