Week Twenty-Three – Wherein It Has Been A Bit Stressy Hectic

Bloody Hell! Never has the phrase ‘Careful What You Wish For’ ever been more appropriate for me and my doings. For I wished for an awful lot this last weekend and I got it with knobs on. First there was the BadaBoom contest when all three UK sound pressure level contest formats lined up and did their thing in a row. Then there was the Fenman Burger Challenge and prize giving for the main show itself.
So, I was delivering the Talk Audio four metre vertical flags for our guest cars (and putting them away wet to take home and dry them out at the end of the weekend!) as well as compering on three different microphones – one of which was in the Mercedes Vito Project X sound van, for the three bass contest formats in a row. Then there was the presenting on the main stage for the Fenman one kilogram three-patty burger and then indoors for the main show prizes after doing the EMMA ones under a tent in the rain, then the dB drag, then the Propper Droppers prize giving. Even with the PD boss taking on his own prizes, I was knackered by the end of the whole event and took all day yesterday to recover. Hence the not-Monday ness of this column that normally disrespects Bank Holidays and even my own, to make sure some ramblings are published
This is a darn short week but I’ll see what I can get sorted – hopefully the Modified Nationals feature. The eight video clips are already processed, although doing them all at once made the fan on my processor-cooler in the old Dellbeast go mad speedy. I got out the Magic Snot (Cyber Clean) and cleaned all the clogged dusty air vents and she seems happier now.

Loads to write up, so I’ll leave it there but for one bloody great HUGE thank you from the bottom of my heart to Andrew Ackerley and his lovely folks who make EMMA run with such vigour, Darren Millard who created three trophies for the Big BadaBOOM from dB Drag coffers and Marcos Barnes of Propper Droppers for his happy insouciant easy going nature and one hell of a cool format. And of course Mark, Jacxs and their five offspring for a decade of wicked shows from No Limits Events.

And last but not least, Cetti at Media Matters and Mr Dyers at Peterborough Arena as well as the East of England Farmers’ chefs who did us so very proud with the whole Fenman – and Scott who ate it all in 20 minutes! I’ll go write that all up, then&;
