Week Twenty-Two: In Which I Meet Lots Of Babes.
WHOOT! What a weekend! The Modified Nationals was a good bit quieter this year, almost as if a poor-kid filter had been applied to the show. Far less of the only-just-affording it types and yet plenty of fabulous cars and wondrous projects belonging to those lucky enough to have the means to do such things. That said, it was a heaving busy event and a total success that the weather was kind to for a change and remains my favourite show of the year.
The sound off scene has never been more vigorous and healthy and I have been enjoying getting off these events’ main stages and getting back to my roots as a compere and presenter of ICE events – that started with SPL things in a park in Derby for me fifteen years ago!
The new blood of the Ackerley family is the reason and that they are now mob handed is a big factor in this, whereas the previous organiser was a one-man outfit, we now have the Guv’Nor, plus his folks and even his cute young offspring helping to hand out the prizes. So, a masive vote of thanks and joy is due the whole family! I also wanted to offer up a huge bear-huggy thank you to Sabrina Cole, ex Grid Girl and all round Good Egg, who added a touch of classy glamour to the prize giving.
However, before Sabrina was giving out prizes with young ‘˜un, we had the attentions of glamour model Shadaey Caramella and the plainly naughty Miss Dolly Delight. (Google her at home, for she’s a very rude lady on occasions ands deffo is NOT work suitable!) But the MyMod.co.uk guys brought them to the show to help get EMMA some coverage and my, what a bloody roadblock. Dolly got her fun bags jiggling and the shutterbugs went bonkers.
