Week Twenty- Two – I’ve Made A Video Or Two
Hey it was a cracker of a Modified Nationals Show with sunshine and half-clad babes even if the better weather I dared to hope for never materialised. Talk Audio magazine was there with our expanda tent and two cars beneath it for both days. We had Drew B’s ridiculous 150dB Smart car throughout and for the Saturday we had Ian Iceman Pinder’s van next to it and on the Sunday we had Mark Smith’s brand new JBL equipped Volvo. It’s an amazing beast of an install and I did get it on video.
I was working for the promoters to record the event as well as be the fixture presenter of the prizes for the club cars on the Kiss FM stage and best of all I got to do the presentation of the unveiling and key handover of Nathan Carey’s Pug 107. You will not believe what the system maker has achieved in the tiny cubic. In all my entire career I have never seen a subwoofer install so incredibly intricate and tight and neatly fitted. Oh and it’s ported! So, as well as presenting the results of my introduction between Highdown Car Audio and Vibe, I also had the delight of seeing Project Big Black out and up and running at last – on time, just like I told Ground Zero he would and he did gooood. Here’s the message he just sent me:
“Hi Adze, I came away with 1st in |Bassrace 149.9dB class, 1st in dB drag (155.8dB@30Hz :)) 1st in Ground Pounders 153.5dB @ 27Hz; 2nd in Propper Droppers and 4th in EMMA (but my musical score was about 150.dB 7@ 26Hz!!!) such a wicked weekend and still more to come – cheers for everything – its only going to get better as the year goes on me thinks!” So he’s a happy chappy too and I am inordinately proud of thejoose and Highdown alike for backing up the boasts I made on their behalf!
All in all there were more than fifty video clips made at the show and a chunk of this week will be spent trying to get as many of them as possible up on to the Modified Nationals YouTube channel I set up ready and waiting for these videos to go onto. If you like any of them, feel free to do the YouTube lift-and-embed manoeuvre to put them on your website if it has any of you and yours in it. I made a lot but the show is massive and so I missed a lot as well I am sure and if you are amongst the ones I didn’t get to then my sincere apologies.
I have this Tuesday morning had delivered some really important kit from Alpine in the shape of their latest decade-grade Major Step Forwards in digital amplification and the answer to those who want more power but are not about to install a ‘proper’ amp. Very cool stuff and I’ll be at ’em soon.
The man who owns the DD box is baying to have it back for the ones who also want to have a go on it and I do have a couple of sets of home speakers to do soon, so as ever…
I’ll go get on, then.
