Week Twenty-Two – Wherein Things Are Getting Meaty
You know the expression, ‘Careful what you wish for?’ Well, I am one indulged, wishful lunatic because I have started something HUGE. A full kilo of local ground beef, a five inch bun stuffed with three 330 gram patties, cheese and baconmeet THE WILD MAN OF THE FENS BURGER! Named for the legend of the rugged bloke who lives out in the fens and has pubs named after him, the Fenman Burger is inspired by recent USA TV foodie telly and particularly the Man Vs. Food show with Adam Richman. (great name, Adman!)
However, our thing will be on the main stage around eleven O’clock and will be Modified Man Vs. Food. Not a race, it will be judged on style and attitude as well as who does the best towards finishing the Fenman in the scant half hour of stage time we have! The finished item is as high as a can of Fosters lager and is held together with a damn great wooden skewer right through it. Feed a family of four well for a fiver a head as it’ll be a £20 hamburger! The biggest from any mobile in the whole UK, I reckon! And started off by ME!
Fact is, Mr. Chris Dyer at the East of England Arena is truly responsible, as I had called with an idea about a one-pounder made from four patties. He listened to my pitch but went away and did development work with their butchers and on site head of catering and chef and did actual cookery trials! It’s real, it’s scary and I was the catalyst or rather Adam Richman’s TV show was. So there’s a bonkers edge to proceedings.
Are you hungry I mean REALLY? Then comment below for consideration to be one of four people striving for beefy glory.
Back at our even madder reality, the beautiful JBL history hardback books in the posh slip covers arrived today. I have three to give to real JBL fans randomly over the weekend. Also, I have spoken to Dodo Juice who are running Waxstock later in the year and they are going to give away some more lovely swag to EMMA entrants at the show and also at further rounds of the sound off. More details as we know them.
I have reviews to chase but am meeting with Sony and Clarion this week, so have vital prep to do. I’ll see how much I can get at. I have subwoofers, speakers and more to test. All this and the show at the end of the week. See you at the Modified Nationals.
Ok, I’ll go get on, then!
