WILL SMITH SANG: ‘TURN UP THE BASS AND LET THE ALPINE BLAST!’
In fact on his album HOMEBASE, Will Smith tags Alpine car audio thrice. The Man In Black, Fresh Prince Of Bel Air and so much else, (I loved him in I AM LEGEND, by the way) actor and rapper was tuned into the Zeitgeist and Alpine are THE brand of top cool in the USA for car audio. (The other guys get massive respect, too, especially Clarion)
I don’t know how many of you know this anecdote but I was at a party – a corporate two-hour-time-slot party in a tower block of offices in Tokyo, to meet the president of Alpine. That’s Mr. Seizo Ishiguro, on the #MostAmazingPressTripEver with Alpine Electronics when I was with Max Power. I accidentally trod HEAVILY on his toe and nearly crushed it as I staggered with jetlag and stupid lunkness. All I could think of to say was to ask if he was aware of the album and the lyric as no-one else would have been so damn frivolous as to discuss such a thing with the top boss. He has awesome control and dropped the mask of pain I saw as I turned around (and it had to fecking HURRT!) and declared that he didn’t know and then I said I would send him a copy of the CD, which I duly did upon return.
The thank you letter I got from his office in return was on paper so fine it was beautiful. I kept it.
Anyway, Alpine look as if they are moving sideways in mobile audio and using all that expertise and tooling for making small speakers and tiny connections inside headunits, for making HEADPHONES.
Hinted at then revealed on Facebook, here is the page of the new ALPINE HEADPHONES! link It’s a USA release, and there is NO news whatsoever at this end as to if or when the UK may see them. But put it this way, that cool Zeit of the Geil Geist, has resulted in the Holy Grail of Retail for such stuff
They are to be sold in APPLE SHOPS! Man, they are going to sell like the cake of hotness, I reckon. I will be all over it like a rash once I know more officially from the UK folks and an apology for jumping guns!
DO NOT call your Alpine dealer, he or she knows nothing, nor yet would Alpine UK say until it was official.
